I’m thrilled to announce I was recently a guest on a local radio show, Brooklands Radio Just Women, discussing a topic close to my heart: reinventing yourself after 50 and the beautiful, complex journey of launching No.38 Candle Company.
A Milestone of New Beginnings
For thirty years, I dedicated my career to the luxury cosmetics and beauty industry, rising from the shop floor to Sales Director, working with and learning from some of the most esteemed and amazing premium brands. This deep immersion in fragrance, quality and the art of consumer desire laid the perfect foundation for my next chapter.
The milestone of turning 50 served as a natural point of reflection for me - a time for a "reset”. As I shared on the show, I knew I had accomplished a great deal and it was time to redirect that passion and expertise into something entirely my own. The inspiration was born out of a simple, universal desire: to create a truly luxury product that works.
The Science of Scent and Soul
My journey from a seasoned beauty executive to a hands-on candle artisan required both confidence and a willingness to embrace new challenges. While my experience informed my vision for premium fragrance - how scents evoke memory and feeling - the art of candle making presented its own sophisticated, scientific hurdle.
Our signature smooth tops and long-lasting fragrances are not a fluke; they are the result of my meticulous trial and testing over nine months. I describe it as a true science - a 360-degree educational process mastering the compatibility of the wax, the wick, the vessel and the delicate balance of the fragrance oils.
For me, this rigorous process is driven by a simple, heartfelt commitment: quality.
